A Word About Materials
Paper
These prints are produced using Epson K3 pigment inks on Moab Entrada 190 gm 100% cotton rag. The paper is a natural 100% cotton rag paper produced without the use of Optical Brightening Agents(OBAs). Optical Brightening Agents will produce very white tones, but the OBAs will break down over time causing the whites to fade.
Inks
Unlike previous generations of dye inks, todays pigment inks are capable of making prints that will last approximately as long as traditional silver gelatin prints. Wilhelm Research (www.wilhelm-research.com) has tested the Epson K3 inkset with numerous papers, turning in expected ages of 60 to 300 years for framed prints not protected from UV light, and approximately 100 years and up for those under UV glass. This is on par with silver gelatin, and significantly better than silver gelatin that has been improperly fixed or prepared. With care, these prints should last several generations without fading or yellowing.
